Courses can be studied via different delivery modes which include Workplace, Online, RPL and Short Courses.

WORKPLACE TRAINEESHIP\APPRENTICESHIPS

Traineeships and Apprenticeships have been designed to encourage businesses to employ new employee and upgrade the skills of existing employees.

The major benefit to the participant is that they develop the skills to be an asset to their employer as well as gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Traineeships and Apprenticeships are generally conducted in the workplace and can be delivered using a range of techniques to suit the participant’s requirements and the organisations needs.

The traineeship or apprenticeship has been designed with industry needs in mind, therefore causing minimum disruption to the day-today operation of the workplace. All training materials are available in simple formats and are suitable for any trainee.

Government incentives up to $4000.00 per participant paid to the employer may be available for eligible persons.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a person’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience. RPL may be used to grant status or credit in or towards a unit of competence.

Recognition of Prior learning assessment differs from the planned assessment detailed in delivery and assessment strategies for accredited course or training package qualifications.

Participants will be provided with a RPL kit that provides guidelines of what is required of the participant. The RPL kit consist of

  • Initial application
  • Step by step instructions
  • Relevant history documents that may be included
  • Self Assessment Questionnaire
  • Employment History
  • Evidence Collections Sheets

 

The assessment conducted in accordance with a delivery and assessment strategy is designed to assess and collect evidence of the learning that has occurred to ensure that the requirements of the course or qualification have been evidenced.

The RPL process is a more personal process involving the participant providing the evidence and the assessor aligning the evidence to the requirements of the accredited course or training package qualification. The nature of the RPL assessment means that assessors may be presented with a wide range of evidence to consider.

As part of an RPL assessment for a unit of competency the candidate will be required to:

  • Completed a number of verbal questions
  • Completed one practical task
  • Presented a third party report from their current supervisor
  • Presented a certificate of completion of a short course that provides further supporting evidence of competence in the required skills and knowledge of that unit.
  • Portfolio of evidence documentation

The assessor then clearly documents how the questioning, practical task, the third party report and the certificate of completion supported competency in the unit concerned.

The principles of assessment, rules of evidence and retention of assessment records apply equally to RPL assessments as they do to programmed assessments.

If the participant cannot RPL in all or part of a unit of competency, gap training will be offered.

SHORT COURSES

Short courses are a way to upgrade specific skills in a short period of time.

Short courses can be accredited units that the participant achieves under the Australian Qualifications Framework, and the participant will receive as statement of attainment. These can be used as credit transfers towards future accredited training that the participant may undertake.

Other short courses known as “soft skills” these are non accredited courses that are for professional development purposes. A statement of attendance is provided to the participant upon completion.
